Rolling toy

New rolling hoop toy.  When rolled on the floor the horse stays balanced on top.

Rabbit and Hoop finished piece

This is a gift for Hazel who was born Thursday August 21st 2014.  You can see the horribly shot video at the bottom of this post to see just how it works.  I burned the red foxes with a wood burner that I've never used before.  Came out really nice and I didn't burn myself (much).

Seahorse in Hoop

Another project.  A Seahorse in Hoop, still a long way until completion.

Video of Rabbit and Hoop toy idea

New idea I'm working on.  It's a variation of the horse in hoop.  The round wood weight inside the hoop keeps the rabbit balanced however the weight also slightly rolls/scrapes against the hoop which causes the rabbit to sprint back and forth.  It still needs some work.

A Few New Pieces

These three are heading to the Great Southwest Equestrian Center's Autumn Classic in Houston.  Hopefully they find nice homes there.  Pictures aren't the greatest.

Work-in-progress

This will be a carousel-like horse rearing up inside the hoop so the back side will have to be much heavier than the front  This piece is going to be a lot more detailed also.

New horse-in-hoop

Finished this one and the one below this weekend.  I really like the way the stars look on the inside of the hoop and sides of the hoop and will probably start incorporating them into future pieces.  This piece and the below horse-in-hoop will probably be placed on Etsy.com to see if I can drum up any interest.  Pieces are approximately 11" in height.

Another Horse-in-Hoop

Horse nearly completed, still needs a bit of sanding and thinning.
Finished painted horse before distressing and staining.

Test of how one of my carved Horse-in-Hoop balances and rolls.  Based on an old tin children's toy from the turn-of-the-century.   The piece was a wedding gift to a friend.  Not the best video however it gives you the idea on how it functions.

New Horse in Hoop

I finished this one last night.  It's a wedding present for a fellow bartender who was married last month.  It's the same size as the last one except this horse is not flat and is balanced without any added weights.  It's based on a turn-of-the-century tin toy that sold for around $2500 in 2006.
